Chapter 28

Dear Diary,

I’m back in the islands for work and it’s my first time since officially being diagnosed with breast cancer. I packed the same swimsuit but haven’t had a chance to get in the ocean or pool. Work has kept me BUSY! I’ve been here since last Wednesday and leave tomorrow. I did have a chance to offer a lei into the ocean on All Soul’s Day. I offered it for the family and friends who have passed away and to say mahalo to God for blessing me and keeping me alive.

If you recall I shared a photo of the sun rising over Diamond Head when I first started my blog. Watching the sunrise is one of my absolute favorite things to do. I love the energy and spirit that radiates through my body. Today I experienced the mana with a new adventure, my coworkers and I were gifted a private helicopter ride around Kauai. We landed at Jurassic Falls, flew through Waimea Canyon, the NāPali coastline and had amazing views of the island. I felt such a connection to the aina and appreciation for the opportunity. Standing at the base of a 400 ft water fall was so powerful and seeing all of this from the sky was breathtaking. I can’t wait to go up again…next time doors off!

Kauai is beyond gorgeous! It’s unspoiled, lush and brings me to a much slower pace and simpler time. I am definitely more of an Oahu or Maui kind of girl because I need more hustle and bustle but if you wanted to really chill this is the place to be. Would I come back to Kauai? Absolutely but not for a week…maybe an overnighter and go back to Oahu or Maui.

I want to keep writing but I’m becoming delirious with exhaustion…

Picking up where I left off. I finally made it to the pool!!! My coworker and I had 30 min to spare before her flight so we hopped in. I haven’t gone for a swim since April and I missed the water…I wish I had time for the ocean but I don’t. My day will consist of watching one more sunrise, shipping all this crap back home and then getting on a plane. Time for me to hele so a hui hou…G
