Dear Diary,
I am TIRED! I went back to work last week and I came back into the craziest week in my company’s history. Long story short I’ve worked from 6 am until almost midnight every day since. I was hoping for an easy transition back but nope I was thrown into the deep end and I’m trying to stay afloat.
As exhausting as my job is I am happy to be back. I was welcomed back by everyone in my teams and they were all so excited I’m cancer free and that I was back. I definitely felt loved and appreciated. I’m also pleased that every error that’s happened since my return hasn’t been because of anything I did or didn’t do…they’re all because of someone else.
Tonight I met with my BT team for an offsite and I had so much fun playing bocce, throwing axes and having mg first alcoholic beverage in MONTHS. It felt great to have some sense of normalcy back.
I’m almost done with my first month of tamoxifen and I think I’m adjusting well. I’m getting hot flashes less frequently and I think I’m starting to balance out. I’m also getting the sharp pain in my foobs as the nerves regenerate. I would say I have feeling in about 70% of my foobs. Underneath and the distal sides of both still need work but I’ll take what I can get. I’m still better off than the majority of women. I’m always afraid the will invert in my sleep while I wait for the grafts to fully incorporate in my body. One day I can finally stop wearing a bra 24/7…one day soon!
Lastly we celebrated Kimchi’s 2nd Gotcha Day Anniversary. It’s been 2 years since he walked into our laps and decided we were going to be his furever family. We sat in the play pen and let him come to us. That was one of the best days of my life! It hasn’t always been easy but I wouldn’t trade a single day that we’ve had with him. He was very gentle while I was healing and now he’s right back where he belongs and using me as a pillow. Kimchi doesn’t just enrich our lives but completed our family. If you’ve been lucky enough to meet him you will know he’s super chill and LOVES people and playing with everyone. With that I’ll say good night because my first call is 6:30 am. -G
