Dear Diary,
I’m 10 days post op and I feel better than I expected. I’ve always had a high tolerance for pain and healed well. After my tonsils my surgeon called me Wolverine because I never experienced the horrible healing that many patients have. This time is no different. I haven’t experienced real pain during this recovery period aside from these fucking ass drains. My drains are constantly getting caught, the tegaderm holding them continuously pulls on my skin and the sites where they’re stitched on are sore. I was supposed to get them removed on Tuesday but my output was too high so we scheduled an appointment for today…only to be told I still have too much drainage. Do you know how annoying it was to wake up early, get ready, take Kimchi to daycare, and get to the city before my appointment? Twice I had do this shit and pay for toll and parking for fucking nothing!!! Looks like I have to wait until Tuesday again…another shitty part is while I have the drains I have to take antibiotics…doxycycline is the only antibiotic that I’ve had issues with. Ugh..enough with the rant for now.
On to the good news, my pathology report came back and my lymph nodes were negative!!! The likelihood my oncologist will recommend chemo is low. I also found out my surgeon was able to get ALL the cancer out during my surgery. So as of now I’m technically cancer free…I’ll wait until my appointment with my oncologist to confirm all of this next week. I’m also very pleased that the nerve preservation worked. As of now I’m already able to feel some pressure on parts of each boob! Most patients start regaining feeling within 3-6 months and here I am a week and half later with some feeling! I’m hoping that I regain most of the feeling within a year. We shall see what happens…G
